Post Budget Breakfast 2026

11 June 2026 | Rydges Melbourne

Each year, Quinn Allan hosts its Post Budget Breakfast, an exclusive event that brings together members of our network in Melbourne to hear from a leading economist on the recently released Federal Budget and its potential impact on the economy, businesses and the broader Australian community. This year more than 100 guests joined us to hear insights from IFM Investors' Chief Economist, Dr Alex Joiner. This video captures some of the highlights from a memorable morning of economic insights, engaging discussion and valuable networking.

Quinn Allan recently hosted the inaugural Women in Finance breakfast: Bold Women, Bold Futures, bringing together a small group of senior finance professionals for a fantastic morning of discussion and networking. Offering an opportunity for meaningful conversations, the event featured a panel discussion led by guest speakers Thushy Moorthy, Regional CFO at Northwest Healthcare Properties Australia, and Nerida Lloyd, Business Controller, Oceania at Kalmar. Both speakers shared their personal career journeys, reflecting on the opportunities, challenges and lessons that have shaped their leadership careers. The discussion covered a range of topics relevant to women working in finance, including navigating leadership challenges, building confidence, leading high-performing teams, learning from setbacks, advocating for inclusion, and balancing professional and personal commitments. What made this an absolute stand-out event was the openness of the conversation. Attendees shared their own experiences, creating a supportive environment where participants could connect over common challenges, celebrate successes and learn from one another.

More than 100 guests joined us at Rydges Melbourne for Quinn Allan's annual Post-Budget Breakfast, our largest event of the year and an opportunity to bring together clients, partners and industry professionals to discuss the economic issues shaping Australia's future. For the second consecutive year, we were pleased to welcome IFM Investors' Chief Economist, Dr Alex Joiner, who provided a thought-provoking analysis of the Federal Budget and the broader economic outlook. While the Budget itself generated significant discussion, Alex's presentation extended well beyond Canberra, exploring the global and structural forces likely to influence Australia's economy over the years ahead. One of the strongest messages from the presentation was that geopolitical uncertainty is no longer an occasional disruption. It has become a permanent feature of the global economic landscape. Alex highlighted the impact of ongoing international conflicts, trade tensions and energy market instability, noting that businesses, governments and investors are increasingly being required to make decisions in an environment where uncertainty is elevated and persistent. These developments have implications for investment, inflation and economic growth across both developed and emerging economies.
By Senior Finance Leaders Network | Melbourne May 12, 2026
Quinn Allan's network of Melbourne-based Senior Finance Leaders recently came together over breakfast for an insightful session with leadership and human performance expert Karen Gately of Corporate Dojo. The focus of the session was psychological safety and its growing importance in today’s workplace from both a wellbeing and legal perspective. With organisations facing increasing expectations around employee wellbeing, the discussion highlighted why creating safe, supportive environments is no longer optional, but essential. With her energetic and engaging style, Karen shared a range of practical examples of psychosocial risks that can impact both individuals and organisations. She explored common workplace challenges such as high workloads, unclear expectations, poor communication, and ineffective leadership behaviours, all of which can contribute to stress, disengagement, and reduced performance if left unaddressed. A key theme throughout the session was the importance of emotional intelligence in leadership. Karen emphasised the role of self-awareness, empathy, and communication in building trust and fostering high-performing teams. In particular, she highlighted the need for leaders to strike the right balance between accountability and empathy, setting clear expectations while also supporting their people to succeed. The session also reinforced the critical role of communication, particularly during times of change or uncertainty. Transparent, honest conversations were identified as a key driver of trust, engagement, and resilience within teams. It was a fantastic and thought-provoking session, giving attendees practical insights into how they can make meaningful, positive change within their own organisations to better support their teams and drive performance.
