About the Company
Medical Indemnity Protection Society (MIPS) is a member-focused organisation providing protection, advice and support to healthcare professionals across Australia.
The organisation is entering an important period of transformation, with continued investment in systems, data and broader business capability. Finance is central to this journey, with an increasing focus on stronger business partnering, better management information and sharper commercial insight. This is an exciting opportunity to join an evolving finance function and help shape how MIPS measures performance and supports decision-making across the organisation.

About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Financial Planning and Analysis Lead (FP&A Lead) will take ownership of budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, KPI reporting and performance analysis, while partnering closely with executives and senior leaders across the business.
The role will focus on understanding the drivers of performance, providing meaningful commercial insight and helping stakeholders make better-informed decisions. You will work closely with leaders across MIPS to constructively challenge thinking, strengthen financial understanding and further establish finance as a valued business partner.
A key part of the opportunity is to modernise planning and reporting processes, reduce manual activity and explore how automation, AI and emerging technology can improve the quality, timeliness and efficiency of financial information.

You will be responsible for:
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process across the organisation
  • Deliver meaningful management reporting, KPI analysis and performance insights
  • Partner with executives and senior stakeholders to support commercial and strategic decision-making
  • Translate complex financial information into clear, practical insights for non-finance stakeholders
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities across financial and non-financial performance
  • Improve financial planning, reporting and analysis processes
  • Support the organisation's broader transformation agenda
  • Identify opportunities to use automation, AI and technology to streamline finance processes and reporting
  • Lead, coach and develop two direct reports.

About You
You are a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering with the business and using financial information to influence better decisions. Naturally curious and confident engaging with senior leaders, you are comfortable asking questions, constructively challenging thinking and translating complex financial information into clear, practical insights.

You will bring:
  • Strong FP&A experience across budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial analysis
  • Proven ability to partner with and influence senior stakeholders
  • Experience within insurance, financial services or another regulated environment
  • Strong analytical capability and the ability to turn financial data into meaningful business insights
  • A track record of improving reporting, financial processes and ways of working
  • Leadership, coaching or mentoring experience, with an interest in developing team capability
  • A degree in Accounting, Commerce or Business
  • CPA, CA or similar qualification.
This role offers genuine career progression for someone with the capability and ambition to develop into broader finance leadership responsibilities over time.
