About the Position
Reporting to an accomplished and highly regarded Chief Procurement Officer, the Deputy Director – Strategic Sourcing is a senior role responsible for shaping and delivering the organisation's strategic sourcing agenda.
Leading a small team of procurement professionals and indirectly influencing buyers across the enterprise, you will oversee complex, high-value and high-risk sourcing initiatives across a portfolio of approximately $1 billion in annual spend. The role combines people leadership, commercial negotiation, executive stakeholder engagement and procurement transformation, ensuring procurement delivers measurable value aligned to broader organisational priorities.
This position will suit an experienced procurement leader who enjoys operating at both a strategic and operational level, influencing senior stakeholders and delivering commercial outcomes in a large and sophisticated organisation.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop the Strategic Sourcing team
- Lead complex sourcing initiatives from strategy development through to contract execution and implementation
- Develop and execute commercial strategies that deliver sustainable value, cost optimisation and long-term organisational benefits
- Partner with executive and senior stakeholders to shape sourcing priorities and support commercial decision-making
- Build strong internal and external relationships that support procurement and business outcomes
- Provide expert advice on procurement governance, commercial risk, supplier engagement and sourcing strategy
- Drive procurement transformation and process improvement initiatives
- Monitor procurement performance and benefits realisation across the sourcing portfolio
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing procurement teams
- Extensive experience developing and leading strategic sourcing programs across high-value and high-risk spend categories
- A proven track record delivering cost optimisation initiatives and supporting procurement transformation in complex environments
- Exceptional stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage effectively at executive level
- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to balance governance, risk and value creation
- Excellent communication, presentation and relationship management skills
