About the Position
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this Financial Accountant role sits within a lean and evolving finance function and plays a key role in supporting the business as it continues to scale.
This is a broad, hands‑on position combining financial accounting, month‑end close, reporting and tax compliance, alongside exposure to transactional processes. A key focus of the role is supporting the transition of accounting activities in‑house, as the business reduces reliance on external providers over time.
Given the high‑volume nature of the environment, the role requires adaptability and a willingness to support across Accounts Payable when required, ensuring continuity within a critical function. You will work closely with a high‑performing Financial Controller and gain exposure to a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a junior to newly qualified accountant to step into industry or further develop their skillset within a growing business.
Duties
• Support month‑end close processes including journals, reconciliations and accruals
• Assist with preparation of financial reports and management reporting packs
• Support tax compliance obligations including BAS, GST and other requirements
• Work closely with external advisors during the transition of accounting processes in‑house
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls
• Provide support across high‑volume Accounts Payable when required
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives as the finance function evolves
• Assist with ad hoc analysis and reporting to support business operations
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive and detail‑oriented accountant with a strong foundation in accounting principles and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment. You will be comfortable operating across both transactional and technical accounting responsibilities and thrive in a hands‑on role.
You will have:
• CA or CPA qualification (or working towards), ideally with a background in professional practice (tax or advisory preferred)
• 2–4 years’ experience in accounting, either in public practice or industry
• Strong understanding of core accounting principles and month‑end processes
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage high‑volume workloads
• A positive, coachable attitude with openness to feedback and development
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a small team
• Experience in construction or property is advantageous but not essential
