About the role
An established technology team in Melbourne is seeking a skilled Power BI Developer with a strong understanding of data engineering concepts to design and deliver high quality reporting and analytics. This role is ideal for a BI professional who is comfortable with data models, DAX, and dashboard design, while collaborating closely with stakeholders and engineering teams.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards, including data relationships, calculations, and KPIs.
- Develop, enhance, and support interactive reports for business and academic stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Business Analysts to interpret requirements and ensure BI models align with dimensional warehouse designs.
- Optimise report performance and implement best practices for security.
- Contribute to standards for Power BI development, source control, and deployment processes across environments.
- Proven experience as a Power BI Developer / BI Developer.
- Strong SQL skills and solid understanding of dimensional modelling concepts (facts, dimensions, slowly changing dimensions).
- Extensive experience in Power BI, including data modelling, DAX, visual design, and publishing.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines and the flow of data from source systems into the warehouse.
- Experience with version control and release processes (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps) is highly regarded.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, capable of translating business questions into effective dashboards and actionable insights.
